Community rules

What may be published on stores, sites and the business network.

Code Colonies Private Limited5 sections3 min read

These rules apply to everything a business publishes through MatruOS: its store and website, products and offers, posts, statuses and stories on the business network, comments, messages in communities, reviews, and short links. They are part of the Terms of service, and they carry out rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, as amended. You are reminded of them when you join, and at least once every year.

Section 1The network is for real businesses

  • Members of the business network are verified businesses (by GSTIN, Udyam or another check), and each one posts under its true business name.
  • Be honest about who you are, what you sell, your prices and your stock.
  • Keep it about business: trade, offers, news, questions, advice and help.

Section 2What you must not publish

Do not publish, share, store or send anything that:

  1. belongs to someone else and that you have no right to use;
  2. is obscene or pornographic, is sexual content involving a child, or invades another person's privacy, including their bodily privacy;
  3. is harmful to children;
  4. infringes a patent, trade mark, copyright or other proprietary right;
  5. deceives or misleads people about where a message came from, or knowingly spreads false or misleading information;
  6. impersonates another person or business;
  7. threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries or public order, incites an offence, or insults another nation;
  8. contains a virus, malware or other harmful code;
  9. is an online game, betting or gambling the law does not allow, or advertises one;
  10. breaks any law in force.

It also must not:

  • be hateful, harassing, defamatory or abusive, or promote violence against anyone;
  • be a fake offer, a fake review, a scam, a pyramid scheme or an unregistered investment or loan offer;
  • advertise goods or services that need a licence you do not hold, or that are banned;
  • use dark patterns: false urgency, hidden costs, bait-and-switch or forced sign-ups;
  • be spam: repeated posts, unwanted bulk messages, or mass tagging.

Section 3AI-made content

  • MatruOS labels posts, images, audio and video made or changed with its AI as AI-made. Do not remove or hide the label.
  • If you upload content made or changed with AI elsewhere that looks real, declare it when you post, so it is labelled too.
  • Never use AI to make content that shows a real person doing or saying something they did not, sexual or nude images of anyone, fake documents or certificates, or anything else on the list above.

Section 4How we keep the network safe

  • Posts, comments, images and statuses are checked automatically before they appear. Content that might break these rules is held for a person at MatruOS to review.
  • Every post, profile and message has "Report" and "Block".
  • When content breaks these rules, we may remove it or hide it, limit who sees it, pause posting, or suspend or remove the member. Repeat or serious breaches lead to removal from the network.
  • We act on complaints and orders within the times on the Grievance page. The member is told what was removed and why, unless an order forbids it, and can ask for a review.
  • We keep a record of removed content for at least 180 days, as the law requires, and share it with authorities only on a lawful order.

Section 5Your responsibility

You are responsible for what you publish, including content an AI member drafted that you approved. If you break these rules, the law may hold you liable, and we may have to give your details to authorities on a lawful order.

To report content, use "Report" on the item, or write to the Grievance Officer as set out on the Grievance page.
