Tax and books

GSTR-1 from your own invoices

MatruOS builds the month's GSTR-1 file from the invoices you have already made, so nothing is typed in twice.

What this solves

Month end becomes a scramble for the CA

01Today

Sales, purchases and payments are kept in different places, so the CA rebuilds the month before filing, and errors surface as mismatches and notices.

02In MatruOS

Every invoice, bill and payment posts to the books and the GST figures as it is saved. The GSTR-1 file and the month's summary are ready from your own records.

03What changes

Returns are prepared from figures that already agree, so the CA's work is review, with nothing to enter again.

What goes into the file

B2B invoicesSales to registered buyers, invoice by invoice, with the buyer's GSTIN, so they see the credit in their own returns.
B2CSSales to unregistered buyers, grouped by place of supply and rate as GSTR-1 asks for them.
HSN linesA summary by HSN code with quantities and tax, drawn from the HSN on each invoice line.
From your invoicesEvery line comes from invoices saved in MatruOS, including the ones made from the Ask box.

Figures your buyers will recognise

Because the return is built from the invoices themselves, it carries the same figures your buyers see in their GSTR-2B once you file.

Before you or your CA file

Review the month's GST summary and the GSTR-1 file; your CA files it on the portal. Check due dates with your CA. This is general information, not tax advice.

Questions

Questions people ask

MatruOS prepares the GSTR-1 file from your invoices. Filing on the GST portal is done by you or your CA.

What is B2CS?

B2CS covers sales to unregistered buyers that are reported in summary, grouped by place of supply and tax rate, in place of one line per invoice.

My CA uses MatruOS too. Does that help?

Yes. A CA firm on MatruOS can add your business as a client with its GSTIN and track GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B on its filing board. See the CA filing board.

Where do export invoices go?

Export invoices are made in MatruOS with place of supply 96 and IGST. Ask your CA how they are reported in the month's return for your business.
